Blue Ridge and Southern-Bryson City |

Bryson City is the fourth town west of
Asheville and is where the Fontana Branch connects to the BRS mainline.
While the town is small, it does have four good size industries.
Electrical Supply Co, (division of Cliff Robinson’s empire!), Morganton
Furniture Co., Burciaga Brewery and Pet Food Co., and Abbott Mines are
those industries and are switched by the various road crews. Sometimes you will find an old steam engine picking up and spotting cars on the Fontana Branch Interchange track. The Fontana Branch Superintendent is kind of old fashion and will allow none of those new-fangled “diesels” on his steam only branch line. |
