Twin City Rails -St.
Paul |
|
The Great Northern
Railway headquarters was located in St. Paul. St. Paul had two large
freight yards, Union Yard and Como Yard. St. Paul Union Yard is on the
layout while St. Paul Como Yard is part of staging. Great Northern also
had the Jackson Street Roundhouse which is on the layout. The layout
also includes a car maintenance shop, a wheel shop, and a GN fuel depot.
The layout includes the large St. Paul Union Yard, St. Paul Depot, a
downtown area, and many industries. The layout also includes interchange
railroads including the NP, SOO, and Rock Island. A lift bridge
separates St. Paul Union Yard and St. Paul Como Yard (staging).
St. Paul Union Yard
is handled by a yard master during operating sessions. The layout has
two industrial areas that include North St. Paul Industries and South
St. Paul Industries. Usually the industries are serviced by the yard
master as time allows. |
