South of the SLSF/KCS/MP junction, the
Frisco main runs south toward the city limits, then bends into Oklahoma
to avoid an east-west ridge that is an outlier of the Ouachita
Mountains. Principal among the business and industries served is the
Whirlpool appliance plant. Originally a Norge facility, the plant has
been expanded several times and now features an adjacent warehouse. A
small yard, still known as Norge Yard, assists the crews working this
major customer. This District will not be operational for Hograils ’10, but management hopes that it will be ready for the ’11 event, if not before. |
